Seasons 1+2 To be Redubbed and Uncut Versions Too
Posted by: Nazmune - Tuesday, February 18, 2003 @ 4:44 AM ET
FUNimation plans on redubbing seasons 1+2 of DBZ as soon as Pioneer's license expires. They will also release an uncut version (probably in DVD and VHS form).

The following is from SzR of Saiyanz Rage:

Funimation has publicly announced at various 2002 conventions that their intention to redub seasons 1 and 2 (the Ocean Dub) once Pioneer's rights expired. so eventually, you'll have a NEVER BEFORE uncut version available.

Strong Sales Records for DBZ: Budokai
Posted by: Nazmune - Tuesday, February 18, 2003 @ 4:39 AM ET
It seems that the new game DBZ: Budokai is doing great. I just might review it after taking a look at it.

The following was sent to me by SzR from Saiyanz Rage.

First DBZ news - Bandai, the game's publisher in east Asia, today announced that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, the PS2 fighting game on the TV Series, has sold more than 1.94 million units in 20 countries worldwide. The game was published in the United States by Infogrames. This figure includes no sales from Japan, where the game was only just released on the 13th, thus proving that the franchise has developed some very strong legs outside its home country.

Rurouni Kenshin coming to Toonami
Posted by: Jon - Saturday, February 15, 2003 @ 1:55 PM ET
On Toonami's sixth anniversary, March 17, 2003, the greatly requested Rurouni Kenshin will debut. Along with this new anime, episodes of DBZ are expected to be shown as announced in the past. March 2003 will be an awesome month for anime fans in America.

Space Shuttle Columbia on Cowboy Bebop, Skipped
Posted by: Nazmune - Saturday, February 15, 2003 @ 5:22 AM ET
I remember watching a NASA shuttle in Cowboy Bebop and apparently it's the recently destroyed shuttle Columbia. The episode was actually one of the better episodes imo and CN will skip it this Wednesday because of it's relation to the recent disaster. I could understand the burning building eps getting skipped in DBZ after 9/11 but not this.

The following bit is from Anime News Network:
Cartoon Network replaced Wednesday's scheduled episode of Cowboy Bebop, "Wild Horses," with another, "Waltz for Venus." Wild Horses featured a restored Space Shuttle Columbia, which was lost in the real world just recently.

A Great Deal
Posted by: King Vegita - Saturday, February 15, 2003 @ 3:20 AM ET
I managed to snag the entire DB Tournament (Tenkaichi Boudikai) Saga for only $36. 15 eps on 2 discs, and with the original jap version on it too! I suggest you all take advantage of this, maybe FUNi will do stuff like this more often. It costs $20-25 US here for a single DVD, 3 eps...... but this box set for less than twice that, 5 times the episodes.

The new DBGT Theme
Posted by: Nazmune - Wednesday, February 12, 2003 @ 11:36 PM ET
I honestly don't know what to make of this new theme song that will be used for DBGT dubbed by FUNi. It's similar to my original reaction to the "Rock the Dragon" theme for DBZ. Rock the Dragon sounded bit corny at first but then it grew on me a little.

You can here it at FUNi's website.

Basically it's rap and "Grand Tour" (the GT in DBGT)is repeated many times, tooo many times.

New Official DBGT Site
Posted by: Jon - Wednesday, February 12, 2003 @ 11:12 PM ET
Funimation has now released the Official DBGT site, which one can visit by going to http://www.dragonballgt.com and clicking enter. It is set up like the official DBZ site, just different content, as once may expect.

Change In Toonami Lineup + New DBZ Episodes
Posted by: Nazmune - Saturday, February 8, 2003 @ 1:34 PM ET
According to Anime News Network, it seems that the final episodes will finally be shown on the Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network has announced that, starting in March, Toonami is adding Yu Yu Hakusho as well as the final episodes for Dragonball Z. The programming block will also once again be shortened to a two hour programming block. Toonami was once before shortened to 2 hours in May of 2001. The third hour returned in June 2002.
