Mini
Review, Episode 253: Union of Rivals
Summary:
Starting off where
we let off in the last episode we see that Goku is trying
to find a suitable fusing partner. Buu gives him 5 seconds
to find the partner or get blown to oblivion. The only choices
he sees are Dende and Mr. Satan. Dende’s size might
actually hurt the combined result and he can’t fuse
with him anyway because they need the dragonballs. Satan seems
to be the only remaining choice but right when Goku is about
to the throw the Potara earring at him he senses Vegeta and
teleports to him immediately. Fusing with Vegeta would most
likely create an unstoppable warrior. But all is not well…
Buu is flying at a high speed towards them and Vegeta doesn’t
want to fuse.
It is later revealed
that Vegeta is pissed at him because he determined that he
gave up his life for no reason. Because he didn’t know
that Goku could go SSJ 3, Vegeta thought he might be equal
to if not stronger then Goku. So he falsely believed that
the only way to defeat Buu was for him to use his suicide
attack. He only found out after his death that Goku could
transcend SSJ 2. This along with his pride is preventing the
highly emotional Vegeta from fusing with Goku. They argue
and fight Buu who seems to be entertained by their little
feud. Vegeta realizes that the only way to defeat Buu now
is to fuse and he overcomes his issues with the help of some
scolding from Goku. Their bodies combine and Vegitto is born!
Review:
I was definitely
entertained by this episode. It didn’t have too much
of the staring and wasting of time that many DBZ episodes
have (it was real bad in the Cell saga). It also had little
bits of humor in it whether the writers wanted it in there
or not. My favorite line in this episode is by Buu when he
is about to go after Goku. “I’ll hunt him down
no matter how far he goes; after all I have nothing else to
do.” It was very funny because it was also very true...
The music
in this episode was pretty good… It had the Buu music
I always liked (I hated everything related to Fat Buu, music,
voice, everything) and the Vegita/Vegito music was also pretty
damn good. Animation was also top notch for a DBZ episode.
All in all, I thought this episode was definitely a good one
not to miss.
